There is no denying the fact that the present conventional agri-food system has witnessed a significant growth at the expense of food safety, environmental quality, human health and social justice. Conventional agri-food system which encourages chemical, capital and energy-intensive agricultural practices has escalated the cost of production. Meanwhile, farmers are at the mercy of manufacturers of chemical inputs especially when their products are not in the marketplaces. Equally, there is a wide knowledge-skill gap about the local resources that can be harnessed for sustainable food production.
In view of that, this book was written to expose agricultural stakeholders to Green Organic Agriculture (GOA) concept, principles and practices.
