Can Russell and Katie's love survive through the family conflicts, heart-wrenching losses, and dark secrets that threaten to drown them both? Haunted by the tragedies and mistakes of his past, Russell Carver has nonetheless managed to build a successful-if lonely-life for himself in his native Boston. But when he meets lovely, vivacious Katie Sweet, up from Atlanta to visit her grandmother, Russell's stoic life is turned upside down and long-abandoned dreams are reawakened. Russell will do anything to protect and provide for this woman he adores, but neither of them can imagine the great waters of calamity that will soon rush against them and shake their fledgling relationship to its very foundation. As the nation is plunged from the Roaring Twenties into the Great Depression, destroying their hopes and dreams, will Russell and Katie find the strength to fight for what they cherish most? "This book captivated my interest from beginning to end The characters and storyline were so well thought out. I want more " -Gail Abundo, Founder of Marriage with Passion and Purpose
There are so many great things I can say about this book.
Published by Bethany , 2 years ago
For starters, I will say that this book is full of really deep and hard topics, but I love it all the better for it.
There is a note on the beginning page that says it isn't suitable for children and I would agree.
However, as an adult I adored this book. It was such a great sequel to Some Through the Fire. The relationships in this novel are sweet to the core, but some are damaging and this shows the result of that.
I adore these characters. And all the characters throughout the Sorrow and Song novels and this one was filled with all of them.
I read the 3rd novel in this series first, but I appreciate them all so much more now because I can see what they've been through.
This book is heart warming, heart breaking, and full of lessons that only God could teach someone.
Again, the author drew me in on the first page and started with enough action that immediately bonded me to these characters.
This book made me laugh, smile, and cry. I read this novel in 3 days and I'd read it again.
The characters in this Sorrow and Song trilogy will always have a special place on my bookshelf as well as in my heart.
