Stretch Forth Thine Hand...

About five years ago, when I was still working nightcrew at a grocery store, a new guy was added to the crew. I got the "fortunate" opportunity of having to train this person. I worked side by side with this guy for about two weeks. One night, I could tell that something was wrong with the guy. I asked him if he was alright and he looked up at me like he was going to cry. "John, I have something to ask you?" Immediately, my heart sunk. "Oh, my God, he's going to ask me out on a date..." "John...John...?" "Yessssss?" "Are...are...are you....?" "Am I, what?" He looked me straight in the eyes and was standing with a sense of conviction, "Are you saved?" Oh, my God...I wish he would've asked me out on a date. I hated that question. I hated that question because I used to ask other people that question. I used to think that it was my duty to "save" people from themselves. Afterall, couldn't they tell that they were vile, rotten, sinners? I was "fortunate" enough to "have the Truth" and now it was my moral as well as spiritual obligation to lead other people to the Truth. But somewhere along the way, I had an experience that totally changed my life. Not only did I come to know that there is indeed a God and that God is Love, but there's really nothing else. All of this stuff we call "reality" is just a game we're playing. I know that may push a lot of people's freaky buttons because we are deeply invested in this illusion. But the bottom line is, we are as Spiritual as we are ever going to be. We are made in the Image and Likeness of God. This book written by the New Thought genius, Joseph Murphy, will get a lot of New Thought, Metaphysical, and people looking for a more Spiritual Approach to Life open up their Bibles again and look through "fresh eyes" that the Bible is indeed a guiding Light toward a deeper understanding. The Bible, in and of Itself is not "thee Truth' as some would have you believe. Pure Truth cannot be put into words because Truth is an absolute...it goes way beyond what we're able to conceive and yet there is something deep within us, that can, at least, resonate to this thing we call Truth. The Bible is filled to overflowing with deeper meanings. When one reads the Bible, they literally have to go beyond the world of form and all that they're used to on the 'worldly plane' and see things from a Higher Perspective. Emerson used to say, 'In order to know God, one must become God." Blasphemous to some, I know, but incredibly enlightening and freeing to others who are trying to go beyond old religious dogmas and worn out creeds. Murphy does a wonderful job of detailing the inner meaning of some of the more 'popular' Biblical Verses. For instance: And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. Then

Simple Solutions

I am very pleased with this book. This information is easy to understand and apply if you have some knowledge of the basis of this material first. I am a follower of "New Thought" so for me this book has brought a practical demonstration of some of the oldest truths known to man forward in a very understandable and informative way. Joseph Murphy is a great teacher and all of his books I highly recomend.
