S.Philly cucina must-have

Living in S.Philly, this should be every kitchen. The glossary of Italian slangs alone is worth the price. Fantastic receipes. I have bought several copies for family memebers that also LOVE IT!!

Great if you are from Philly!

My mom asked me to purchase 12 copies of this book for her. She gave them as gifts to all her friends. They were all very pleased. It is a neat book if you are from Philly!

Ah...the aroma of gravy simmering!

Gravy Wars conjured up fond memories--of my grandmother's (and mother's) spaghetti gravy simmering on the stove during a cool autumn Sunday afternoon. Aside from activating my recall (and saliva glands), Ranalli is also a good storyteller. No matter your ancestral roots, Gravy Wars is bound to remind you of your own family, and the characters that both entertained and annoyed you through the years at those holiday get-together feasts. Each chapter is a different journey down a different pathway of reminiscences, and each chapter has its own cache of recipes. Gravy Wars is at once humorous, poignant, informative, and nostalgic. It's a quick read that you'll no doubt go back to again and again--if only for the recipes! You need not be Italian to enjoy this book. As I said, it will remind you of your family, since every family goes through life with much the same drama and comedy. This little book made me laugh, made me think, and boy did it make me hungry!
