Well written, thought provoking and so much fun to read

I was not expecting much from this book figuring it would be a fluff piece. What a happy surprise to find such a well written and funny book. Any woman reading this book will relate to at least one, if not all of the ghosts that haunt the main character. The fact that she is clinically depressed (in pj's for an entire year) in the beginning of the book and slightly psychotic (i.e seeing ghosts, conversing with them), she manages to normalize this for the reader which is what actual psychotic people do. That said, I think that we all imagine from time to time what a former version of ourselves might make of our current situation. This is something that all people can relate to as well as the different challenges that present themselves at different stages of our lives (childhood, teens, college etc.). While the plot line is not that original, and somewhat predictable, the way it was told was very unique. I was sorry to see the book end.

Deep enough for book club, light enough for the beach!

Noehren's debut is a refreshing blend of humorous thoughts and deep insights into the life of a girl haunted by her past and unsure about her future. Sure, she's trailed by ghosts, but you never feel like Samantha is crazy. Instead, you find yourself relating to her personal journey - one that is highly relatable and suprisingly upbeat. It's light and fun enough to pack in your beach bag but carries deep undertones that could keep a book club discussing for hours. Whether you read it for fun or philosophy, you'll finish wanting more of Samantha and more from Noehren.

Hil-arious!!

I was expecting some standard chick-lit when I picked up this book, but what I wasn't expecting was the quick ...sarcastic ... wit that puts this book in a class with the very best in that genre. Along with a poignant story that hits almost everyone where they live, I loved the pop-culture references and let's face it, I loved being able to share it with my daughter ... comfortably. I can't believe this was Riley's first shot. Keep it coming.

LOVED it

If you liked Twilight + Pretties + Pride and Prejudice, you'll love Gravity vs. the Girl. Fabulous insight delivered in a fun, entertaining way. Made me examine my own ghosts. Am dying to know what happens next. Write more Riley!

I couldn't put it down!

What a wonderful journey this book offers!! I will never again refer to 'part' of me wanting/not wanting/thinking/hating/loving something without imagining my own "ghosts" right there putting in their two cents. Riley instantly drew me into Samantha Green's life (or lack of such) and kept me glued there through every page. The characters are authentic and tangible...I could swear I know these people! I was so invested in the story that I didn't want it to end and keep wondering what happened to the cast after the last page. This is a wonderfully inventive first offering that leaves me eager for the next and so very grateful that Riley chose to broaden her audience. She may have been lying to herself for years, but I'm glad she decided to share the wealth with the rest of us!
