Reverend Harley Daniels has taken over the callings as the pastor of his new church. One duty is to visit a prisoner on death row in Kentucky State Penitentiary. There he meets and ministers to Woodrow Pierce, a young, resentful, beaten-down man. He meets a stripper, Shapely Shaw, who feels guilty about her testimony at Woodrow's trial, next he encounters Max Holmes, a photojournalist, who is looking for a story. The two agree to aid the preacher in his quest. The unlikely trio risk their lives in an attempt to catch the real killer and free Woodrow Pierce.
