I am an avid reader. I particularly enjoy historical fiction and specifically multi-generational family saga series. Nicolaysen's "New York" series of 5 is highly recommended. In each book, the characters are diverse and well developed, as are the plot lines. The historical context, particularly developing NYC is well considered and presented. A difficult series to find since is out-of-print, but well worth the treasure hunt. "Gracie Square" covers the time period 1899-1930. The following is from the mass market paperback cover: "The de Kuypers gathered at Gramercy Park to welcome the New Year 1900 and herald the beginning of America's golden century. Their nation's destiny had belonged to them for generations, and the huge fortunes they had amassed were the future of their city and their country. They would build New York's subways and skyscrapters, control the stock market, and make their power felt around the world."
