A Gem!

I am saddened that this book is out of print. I must have checked out my library's copy ten times when I was in high school. It's an elegant book, with characters that are quirky and interesting, yet very real. You find yourself angry at Emily for abandoning Robin for more popular friends, but at the same time you can understand her. And Robin, bless her, is never a wet dishrag. She's shy, yes, and hurt by Emily's betrayal. But in her quiet way, she sets out to carve her own niche in her world, befriending a couple of other "misfits" who turn out to be fun and loyal friends. A lovely book for girls of all ages, well written and driven by memorable characters.
