Jeff has a uniquely approachable and personable style dealing with an extremely painful subject. He makes the frightening landscape of addiction understandable in everyday terms and guides the reader to assurance of their next step. He also appears on the TV show "Intervention". This is a fantastic first book to read if you or a loved one suffer from addiction and you want things to change.

If you ready to make a difference in your family AND help the one who is chemically dependent, read this book. Whether you are the one who is chemically dependent or a family member who has participated in this life-style with the addict, this book tells you exactly what it is going to take to get the addict and the family back to functioning as normal as possible. The author includes Christianity as a helping tool but understands that the church is not exclusive to this healing process. A very practical book!

This books is very practical. It explains the origin of substance abuse in a person's life and its effects--which are not only on the individual but also their family. This has helped me immensely with my chemically dependent sister.
