Why wasn't this book a best seller?

I love Goobersville Breakdown. It's fast moving and funny... and tragic, too. Essentially it could have been titled Down And Out in New York State," something akin to Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer, or "Down and Out in Paris.?" It's Miller and F. Scott Fitzgerald and Orwell rolled into one. Why doesn't the literary world know about this gem?

Highly original. Witty. Hits its mark satirizing America.

This is a book that's been out many years, but is still worth reading, still current. Apparently it has quite a cult following, that I didn't know about.It's highly original and is a must to read.
