If you play golf - this is the book!

This illustrated version is essential to fully understand the rules of golf. The standard little rule book is interesting; this version is everything! You need to be a Philadelphia lawyer to understand the little USGA book. This illustrated book explains the written words of the "pocket" version using photos, diagrams and cites on-point rulings from archives. Since this illustrated version is also USGA sanctioned and authored, it is based on the pocket-book official rules. This is NOT some third-party "interpretation." It is what everyone that plays the game should be reading, BEFORE they tee one up! If you enjoy golf you will enjoy this book. It not only makes golf's rulings clearer, it tells why the rules are the way they are.

USGA lingo better interpretated

Easy to read and somewhat easy to find a specific ruling. Poorly indexed. They have a long way to go in making rules easier to understand but have made a good start.

simple, basic - perfect for the beginner.

I don't think the author would make any claim about this book being suitable for all golfers. Those who have been playing for years probably wouldn't get much out of it. But for people who are relatively new to the game I reckon it is perfect. I expected golf instruction books to be far too complicated for me but this makes the game sound relatively straightforward. And since buying this book not only has my enjoyment level risen, I have also broken 90 for the first time. If it's science you're after, don't get it. If it's simple, basic tips that avoid 'paralysis by analysis', which so many of my golfing friends suffer from, then this book will prove very helpful.
