Best golf book ever written

The Golden Bear Jack Nicklaus wrote THE book on golf in the 70's but it remains the definitive work on how to play golf. Readable and approachable, eminently detailed and yet never beyond comprehension. A true masterpiece.

brilliant

Extremely detailed . You need to really concentrate when reading this book. I recommend you read one chapter then implement it in your game before going to the next. by the end of the book your game would have improved!

Must have for serious golfer

I heard about this book after having played golf for 12 years. I wish I had gotten it back when I first started. It has all the basic fundamentals one should know and is very easy to read and apply to your game. The book helped me understand the golf swing much better and in more detail then ever before. For the price you must get this book.

Great Book!

I started golfing last summer with the aid of a co-worker to help get me started. Once school started back up I found myself going to the driving range much more often the he could meet me there for guidance; I knew that if I wanted my game to progress I would either need to find another trainer or turn to a book. Concidering this book is less then 20$ and a trainer can be around 100$ a session, I opted for the book. Immediatley after taking suggestions from grip, stance, swingplane, and posture my game improved immensley. My slice is now undercontrol and I get an extra 20 yrds out of my irons. The book has helpfull illustrations that really put some of the dynamics of this game into perspective. I recomend this to anyone who is trying to either start golfing or even for avid golfers who are trying to tweak there play styles and shake some bad golf habits. This book has truly been a golf blessing.

Essential Full Swing Instruction Manual

still the single best instruction manual after all these years. (and not just because of the author!) for the first time, proper setup, feel and how to shape your shots is all laid out in one terrific easy to follow book. for example, did you know that after you have mastered one basic swing to hit the ball straight, how just a few simple pre-shot adjustments using the same swing will allow you to hit on command just about any type of shot you want?: the high fade, low penetrating draw, slice or hook (yes there are times when you intentionally want to hit these last 2!) will will become a standard part of your arsenal after reading this book. I was at a clinic being delivered by Jerry Pate once where he said "no one knew how to mechanically hit these shots until Jack Nicklaus taught us all in Golf My Way. before then, it was all done pretty much by feel." I agree with Jerry. The one thing you won't find here is adequate instruction on the short game other than putting. since chipping and bunker play was never Jack's forte (why bother when you never miss a green!), this is not surprising.

Best Ever Golf Instruction Book

I read the 1976 version as I learned the game in 1977, and it gave the most methodical, comprehensive, and intelligent perspective on every aspect of the game of any book I have read since then. I have had several very well qualified pros since those days and this book provided me with a foundation to make sense of what I was hearing in lessons that followed. My handicap would not have been a 2 unless I had read this book. I am certain that had I continued on the golf team I would have made it to the tour, which I credit to Jack's great insights into the game.An absolute must for any serious golfer.
