Gold Set Dancing is divided into three sections: the first contains poems with Irish themes; the last largely features the American Midwest and the city of Milwaukee, his adopted home. The middle section consists of prose poems celebrating the lives of the poet's grandparents. About the Author James Liddy was born in 1934, the son of an Irish father and an Irish-American mother. He was brought up in County Wexford and County Clare, educated by the Benedictine monks at Glenstal, and at University College, Dublin (and by Patrick Kavanagh in McDaid's). He has been a Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for twenty years. His Collected Poems appeared in 1994 from Creighton University Press. A critical study of his work, by Brian Arkins, is in preparation.
