A Decent Devotional And Study Book From A Unique Perspective

This is a very good book. I did enjoy it. This book has 51 studies in a dozen categories. This would make a good devotional. This also would make a good study class, especially for a youth group. Reggie White, unlike most ministers and devotional writers, was a pro athlete, and this gives a unique perspective. The reason it dropped down to four stars instead of five is its approach. Bible studies and devotionals and Christian books can take one of two approaches: 1) it starts with Scripture and gets to the meaning of the text and then gives thoughts and stories to help illustrate the text, or 2) it is the thoughts of the author with Scripture given to give authority to his thoughts. Many of these devotionals fit into the second category. This does not mean I disagree with Reggie. It just comes across as being him speaking, as opposed to a true Biblical exposition. One thing that is interesting. On pages 135-137 he talks about "Tough Times Don't Last", talks about a friend dying young, then concludes that he does not fear death and wants his family to celebrate his life when he leaves this earth. That turned out to be prophetic. One other thing I wanted to comment. Reggie White was not afraid to admit his shortcomings. He did not portray himself as a person who never has problems, who always practices what he preaches. We need to give others the same impression, with a willingness to be vulnerable.

One of The Most Bible Literate Men to Have Lived!

Reggie White was a man of conviction. He was not concerned about wordly beleifs, his focus was on the wishes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! For Jesus himself said "you will be persecuted for your beleif in me" and Reggie certainly has. For clarification, the true sabbath is from sundown Friday, to sundown Saturday. Man, not God chose Sunday! It floors me when people with an agenda will spout anything that furthers their cause. Shame on the previous 2 reveiws, the tounge is definately your biggest problem. That is also in the Bible, maybe you should purchase one to read! Awesome honest Book! God Bless all who read it, and discern with actual scripture in hand.

Preach it, brother! I like that!

This caught my attention! It's not an autobiography, but then again, it is in a sense. It is a book of day by day devotionals by an awesome man who loves The Lord. Hey, he takes the approach from different experiences he has had. This was a very simple approach to a devotional, and that's what it was meant to be. What a pity that people still feel the need to bash this man. He deserves to be praised! Reggie White, awesome book! Keep it up. He will certainly hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Because in the midst of all the controversy, despite the petty name calling, Reggie White is on the right side! Preach it, brother!! I like that!!

biblically illiterate?

Biblically illiterate? That's funny.... Read my review for "In the Trenches."I suggest you read your Bible again. You seem to have missed a few things.

Give The Man A Break

TO the reader from Alamosa, Co, I don't believe that you have read either of his books. You continue to write the same chatter in each of your reviews about him not observing the Sabbath, but I don't see you attacking the other sports figures/authors with the same accusation. He is not the only Christian who played ball on the Sabbath. And for you to know it, you must have been watching him play on the Sabbath, huh? I believe that if you would read his books with an open mind instead of a mind full of bias, you would actually learn something. It's your comments that are a bunch of blather. Please, give the man a break, and give us one too. We want to see serious readers give reviews, not some vindictive coward who won't even sign his name.
