Dorothy Gault-McNemee is a medical doctor who had tried every diet she could find to control the weight gains that had plagued her throughout her life. As the founding physician of a busy health clinic, she also saw that overweight patients who were suffering from a variety of diseases were far worse off than those who had their weight under control. As a result, Dr. Gault-McNemee began to examine what we eat and what our slimmer, healthier ancient forebears ate. They didn't have processed foods and access to sugar; they weren't consuming alcohol and foods that had been mixed with artificial ingredients they couldn't pronounce. They were eating what God put on this earth: meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, grains, and nuts. And thus was God's Diet born. In other words, if you can't pick it, pluck it, pull it from the earth, or scale it, don't eat it. If you pick up a can or a package of food that includes even one ingredient that you can't identify, don't eat it. Dr. Gault-McNemee also cautions that far too many foods contain sugar as an additive, from cereal to bread to canned vegetables. Prepare foods simply and avoid sugar, but while you're at it, have a steak and a baked potato with butter and sour cream. In God's Diet, Dr. Gault-McNemee has compiled numerous case studies from her own practice; inspiring advice from people like herself, whose lives have been changed for the better; information on vitamins, minerals, and cholesterol; and menu-planning advice and delicious recipes. The doctor has also prepared three lists of foods: those which you can eat all you reasonably want, those you should avoid, and a "swing list" of foods that you may enjoy occasionally and with limitations. God's Diet enables you to lose weight simply and naturally without having to remember any complex diet regimen. By incorporating simple habits into our lives -- paying attention to food labels, drinking eight to ten glasses of water a day, and exercising reasonably -- we can easily and radically change the way we live, while becoming healthier and living longer. Never has there been a simpler or more logically thought out weight-control guide. There is nothing to count or exchange, no special foods to buy. Everything you need to live a slimmer, healthier life is in your supermarket, if you follow the advice of Dr. Gault-McNemee, whose vast experience with fad diets and overweight patients led her to conceive this brilliant little book. This truly is the last diet book you'll ever buy. Remember, if God didn't make it, don't eat it!
I woke up one day and stepped on the scale and when it showed that I was closely approaching 200 lbs, it scared me to death. I knew I had to do something. I had never started any diets because all of them restricted what I could eat and most were made up of vegetables which I hate. I went online and read into the Atkin's Diet. I took a quiz on their site which told me that I was addicted to Carbs and Sugar and it was affecting my health, my well being and my sanity. I went to the library but I couldn't find the Atkins book. The title, "God's Diet" caught my attention. I decided a little help from up above couldn't hurt and I took it home. When I read it I was happy that it wasn't filled with bible quotes and that it was easy to read. I read more into it and I was surprised at how I was poisoning my body with all the chemicals in processed foods. I said, That's it, I am not eating any of that stuff ever again. That was in April 2003. It is now October and I am still following the diet. Exactly 6 months later and I feel awesome. I have lost almost 50 pounds and 6 pant sizes. No joking! I don't care about how she's not following the bible. I am a Catholic who attends church weekly. God is my friend. He has helped me so much and I know that it was He who put this book in front of me at the library. I don't need anyone to tell me what I should and should not eat. All I needed was a little advice. Everyone in my family has told me how proud they are of me and how there is no way they could give up bread and pasta and soda. I tell them that it is easy when you can have steak and mashed potatoes and eggs. It doesn't feel like you are suffering. I have not been hungry once. I eat brown rice, chicken, potatoes, eggs, bacon, beef, salad, all kinds of fruits, beans and nuts. I can have seafood I just don't like it. I ended up purchasing the book because of all the people who kept asking me to borrow it. I feel like a walking advertisement. I am still not at my ideal weight but I know that I can be there and soon. All I need to do is continue the diet and exercise and drink lots of water. I feel that this is something that I can continue for the rest of my life. I used to be addicted to things like Oreos and Ice Cream and Chocolate. Now I am addicted to sunflower seeds, and peanuts and grapes. Those are my munchies now. There is no portion control with this diet. As long as you follow the principle, "If God Didn't make it, then don't eat it!" you will be fine. This book is a little pricey for its size but I highly recommend it. If you don't want to purchase it then look for it in the library. It is so easy that all you need to do is read through it once and you won't have to read it again. One thing that helped a lot was some advice that was in the book, if someone offers you a food that you know you can't have, don't say, " I can't eat that." instead say "I don't eat that anymore." There is a big difference. I have to admit that it was hard at first especial

I was looking for a simple, doable and healthy eating regimen that I could follow for the rest of my life. This is IT!God's Diet is easily summed up in less than 20 words. 'If God made it, you can eat it. No sugar, no white flour, low salt and no fried foods.' Dr. Gault-McNemee explains the medical rationale for each facet of the simple plan in plain English, and it just makes good sense. The program allows you to eat all of the meat, fruit, and vegetables you want. This book is not based on Bible law. It is called "God's Diet" to acknowledge God as the Creator of all things natural and healthy for human consumption. I've been on the plan for about six weeks and have lost ten pounds without ever feeling hungry or seriously deprived. The program WORKS! Best of all, I've never felt better!

AFTER READING ALL THESE PEOPLE'S REVIEWS, I JUST HAD TO WRITE ONE!Yes, in the garden of Eden Man did not eat the flesh of animals, BUT, GOD did create the other animals and humans are NOT in the Garden of Eden anymore!Everyone get over your problems with the Bible! No wonder we were kicked out! This way of eating is the easiest and affordable way of getting healthy, and .......losing weight!God created the animals and we use them for meat, or did we forget that he sent wave after wave of game birds to moses and the jews while they were wandering in the desert for 70 years., they also ate manna, for those who are going to dispute this review. I've read it four times. God sent us meat to eat.............This diet is for people who want an answer to their weight loss problem. It is not a fast solution, but people will eventually reach their goals.
God's Wisdom!

I am finally losing fat! I found this book one afternoon in a bookstore just when I was at the end of my dieting rope...frustrated in the fact that I was trying to change my diet, but not getting anywhere in the fat loss department. I tried low carb, low sugar (which are both good, just not the total answer for me), and other approaches, although still eating some whole grain breads and crackers and other whole grain, but man made products. After much prayer, I found this book and I am now losing fat steadily after removing these whole grain-but man made items. I eat balanced meals, I'm never hungry, have lots of energy and I'm finally sleeping well! God's Diet is easy to shop and cook on, and easy to stay on for my busy soccer mom schedule. I have found my answer....and God in His wisdom knew what to do all the time!
The Ungarbled Word on Weight-Control

In a clear, concise, and very readable way, Dr. Dorothy has presented a compelling argument for discarding the complexities and impracticalities of modern diet regimens in favor of a far simpler and more logical approach to weight-control. Instead of relying on a rigid program of counting calories and measuring meal portions from certain food groups in specific rotations and sequences, the Dr. has outlined a simple program based essentially on that practice which has been in use with only minor variations from ancient times up to WWII, during which time food has been obtained primarily by hunting, fishing, and gathering from fields, farms, and ranches. The only processing this food underwent was to manually prepare it for cooking.Dr. Dorothy admits that her program is not for everyone but for the very large majority, it works well with little or no alterations. Another big plus for this program is that the only tools one needs to implement it are firstly, a bit of caution; secondly, a lot of common sense; and lastly, within reasonable limits, a steadfast adherence to the guiding principle which is the motto of this booklet: " If God didn't make it__don't eat it!"
