Excellent Encouragement for Those Who Are Discouraged

Wiersbe has written an excellent title for the person who is impatient in his/her walk with Christ. Discouraged or impatient because you are not seeing improvement or think that God is too slow? Then this book is for you! The book consists of 30 chapters and about 150 pages and is full of reminders that we are still a work in progress and will produce fruit when we surrender to Christ and His timing for our lives. Among the points covered in the book include: 1. God's delays are not God's denials. 2. The heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11 were not low-risk people! 3. Use your times of solitude and deeper fellowship with God to prepare you to serve others in His name. 4. God longs for fellowship and wants to share His life with us. 5. It takes time to be holy. 6. The importance of prayer. 7. Christians who really have something to brag about rarely brag at all. 8. How to more deeply experience God's forgiveness. 9. Praising God for Who He is and what He has done for us will keep us from complaining and criticizing others. 10. True people of God are swift to hear and slow to speak. Be careful of speaking carelessly or lightly of the things of God. Read and be encouraged! Recommended!

Not a bad book at all. Dont know why there are so many

used copies for sale. In short, this is a collection of 30 messages/chapters elaborated on specific biblical verses that attempt to connect our daily life problems with lessons/teachings from God's Word. Simple, clear, to the point and with new perspectives, say, I need to win/grow my wings for "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31" etc. A good food for thought. Recommended for all christians!

Easy-reading on normal Christian living

This pleasant little volume shouldn't knock your socks off with inspiration if you've been a Christian for any length of time; but it's full of practical advice, great stories, and well-grounded encouragement for believers. I found it encouraging, witty, and thoughtful. Wiersbe has been a wonderful pastor and Bible teacher for a long time, and it shows in his writing. The whole book comes across as an enjoyable sermon from a fatherly man who loves you and wants you to succeed. The theme of the book, "learning to slow down and live," may be the thing you need to hear most as a modern believer. Don't let your job, the television, or your neighbors set the pace of your life. Slow down. Be patient, because God isn't in a hurry to accomplish His plans. He wants you to enjoy Him, glorify Him, and rest in Him through normal Christian living. Of course, Wiersbe describes what "normal" is. Here are just a few of his insights: 1. "We're prone to walk by sight, not by faith."2. "In whatever man does without God, he must either fail miserably or succeed more miserably."3. Four fallacies about God's Will are that it is dangerous, difficult to discover, distant, and divided. 4. We must be open-minded enough to consider other thoughts which may conflict with our own without feeling the need to "correct" them.5. The File-Card Mentality: Avoid "categorizing everything" so that you no longer think about it.In short, this is good, solid teaching which could be valuable to a young Christian and help guard him against heresy. Enjoy!
