In bonhoeffer manner, so few words can say so much

Devotional books are not for me. I never found one that I identified with or that challenged well, and many were just boring. But the excerpts taken from bonhoeffer in "God is in the manger" to coincide with advent have me joyously looking forward to this season every year. Returning to the true intent of this time on the calendar and focusing on God's visit to earth.

Meditating on what is true

This beautiful little book for Advent is one I return to year after year. The devotions are somewhat short but packed full of meaning. The letters written by Bonhoeffer and his loved ones during the war add to richness and depth. More importantly, they give weight to the true meaning of Christmas and what matters. Each devotion, each letter, and each scripture reading brings the reader into realignment of keeping our eyes, hearts, and minds back to Christ coming to this earth to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

I love having an advent book each year but this one isn’t my favorite. Really short read each day and not the easiest to understand/read.
