Book Overview

Thirteen-year-old Glory Mason has always been known as a troublemaker in Dogwood, the tiny Appalachian town where she's lived her entire life. Intelligent and impudent, Glory is frustrated with Dogwood's isolation from the world "outside," and her pranks and tomfoolery have become an almost constant worry to her father, the town leader and pillar of the community. Glory

Glory is a book about a 12 year girl named Glory. She lived in a very small town called Dogwood. This town is in the mountains of West Verginga. this town is very isolated from the world. It has no modern convenyenses. the town is very religious and has a weird thing. If you something so bad the town can evict you out but you have to drink the water of judgement that will kill you within a year. This is a realy good book I liked it a lot and did't want to put it down. the book would be best for girls 10-15 but boys would probaly like it to.

Good Book

I really liked this book because it was about a girl and her troubles. I like books that have troubles. That way I know if they solved their troubles or not. The trouble that my charcter had was getting to Boston. In trouble books, the main charcter usally gets help from someone. The person who I think would like this book is Tabatha Copeland. I know that she also likes trouble books. That and she likes helping books also.

Can't wait for the next installment!

Glory is a well-written, well-crafted, and exceptionally pleasing read. The author has deftly created a character that the reader comes to know intimately and care about. I'm sure many readers will identify with Glory's rebelliousness and insatiable curiousity about the world. I am looking forward to finding out what the author has in store for this strong and yet all-too-human female character.

Amazing story

The young reader will look to Glory for guidance in pursuing their own independence. She's fiesty, determined and resourseful which empowers her readers to test their own skills in pursuing their independence. Jodi has given her readers the feeling of becoming a guest in the town of Dogwood, where we are encouraged to become a part of the daily life and a witness to the traditions of this conservative coal mining town. She then allows us to accompany Glory on her adventure as she is banished from her home and family to put her resourcefulness and unwavering will to the test. Love the book! I can't wait for my daughter to read it!

reminiscent of family lore

Glory is a literary work for all ages! The experience swept me to Dogwood, and the cold wintery hills of West Virgina, where Glory entered my heart. The familiarity, with which each character was introduced, gave the story a reminiscence of family lore and the settings visited were much like havens of childhood.Bravo to Jodi Lynn for bringing an empowering example of literature into the lives of our youth. I look forward to travelling on to Shadow Tree with Glory!
