Great book. Witty and funny.

I really have enjoyed this book a lot. Bruce combines his personal expiernce with some very inspiring words. Reading the reviews of the people that didnt liek it as much just makes me laugh. Obviously they havent caught the spirit of the true traveler. You gotta kick back Mr. Vagabond...let life take it where you may. Dont let things trip you up enough to get all huffy and write a bad review just because you think the guys personal expeirence doesnt help you. Jealousy stinks huh? lol. This guy has such great things to say really. Its an easy read and creates a stirring to go and figure out what the heck he is talking about. Here's some examples: "You can predict th length of you trip but you must nurture the width and depth of it." "Life is like photograqphy: we use the negative to develop." He also talks about going to the top of a building looking out towards a direction that looks interesting and going for a 1 or 2 day trek in that direction. Its great. Anyway...I liked it.

Reviewing the reviewer

I note that "Vagabond" wrote one other review of a travel book, and said basically the same thing he/she said about Globetrotter Dogma....I found Globetrotter Dogma so enthralling that I bought several copies as gifts.

Absolute Splendor

With a conversational writing style and years of experience, Bruce Northam captured my attention with his "boyhood" wonder at the world. He gives a realistic description of globe trotting, with nothing more than his backpack and a few essentials (not always money!), in "off the beaten path" places that bring out the joy of exploration of people, places and cultures. I only hope to do a little traveling like this myself someday, Meanwhile, I will read delicious tidbits such as these to tide me over for that long journey.

The cure for boredom

If you're bored with your life and don't know what to do READ THIS BOOK!! If you are a veteran traveller Northan will transport you back to the time when life was a satisfying adventure. If you have not yet embarked on a journey, you will after reading this book. Northam's adventurous spirit and sense of humor shine through each page. The isightful and inspiring canons bring the world to your feet and challenge you to forge your own trail into it. Give this book to friends as I have and your phone will be ringing with words of gratitude. It is a chemically free cure for computer weary eyes a deadline strapped soul!

Truly Inspired!

This book entertained, inspired and encouraged me to pack my bags and set out on an adventure! Bruce Northam's amazing experiences show that anyone, regardless of their background or interests, can enjoy what the world has to offer by traveling with an open mind and an open heart. I've already bought two copies of "Globetrotter Dogma" as gifts for friends and I highly recommend it!
