Pike and Selby's book has become a springboard for the recent attention given to pedagogical procudures, or workshop-type participatory activities aimed at international awareness or cultural relativism. The book is basically a log of usable activities that bring out the interdependance and connections that exist in society and the global community and aims to foster commradery and cooperation in the classroom thus expanding the learner's zone of proximinal development, or potential for growth.
