Favorite book for generations of my family!

This was my grandmother's favorite book, to the point that her copy is falling apart so bad we don't read it anymore. It's also my mother's favorite book, and mine. If we see a copy in a book store, we buy it, because it took about 20 years of looking (mostly before the internet) to find another copy. We quote this book. We cherish it. It is amazing. Setting: frontier days when Georgia was the wild frontier. Characters: a frontiersman and his young wife who barely knows him. Story: their time learning each other and the land, and dealing with other pioneers, one of which ends with a full out fued. Hilarious, sad, adventurous, sweet. Cannot say enough good things about this book.
