Funny, but not as good as I was expecting.

I had such high hopes for this book, and it ultimately met only some of them. It unfortunately just didn't get into the complexities of women's history with alcohol as I was hoping, with the exception of some frankly hand waving discussion of the women's temperance movements. It also wasn't as rigorous as I was hoping. O'Meara wrote about disproven information as if it was fact, including that people in the past drank beer and ale because the water was dangerous to drink. She seems to have favored telling fun stories about cool, boozey women over an accurate history of women and alcohol. However, I can't hate on fun stories about cool, boozey women. The book was funny and I do recommend it if you're looking for something light and are willing to overlook less-than-stellar credibility.
