Giraffe of Montana, Vol. III William Bowman Piper Little Pemberley Press (2007) ISBN 9780976335962 Reviewed by Eric Zeda (age 8) for Reader Views (5/07) "Giraffe of Montana, Vol. III" is about a giraffe that has a mission to save Montana. He has different adventures. One time Giraffe had to help the King with a dragon that was in pain; he also helped the town's people get food. Giraffe goes on other missions and helps the King and Queen. I didn't like the book because each story ended quickly. I expected more adventure. In the story about the dragon, I didn't expect the story to end when the knight took out the tooth. I thought it was a boring ending. Also, when I tried to read it on my own it was confusing. My mom had to read the book to me. Parent's Note: This book is promoted as a read-together book for ages 6-12. However, I found the writing to be more appropriate for older children ranging from 10-12. I read the story to my six and eight-year-old because the words were a bit advanced for my eight-year-old to read on his own. I found that they lost interest quickly; consequently I only read a few pages a night. I had to paraphrase many of the sentences to bring it down to their level, even though my eight-year-old is an advanced reader. "Giraffe of Montana, Vol. III" is definitely more appropriate for older children.
