"You can't leave me like this;I could take a long time dyin'" "There's that."Fargo said.

This episode takes place in 1861 in the Gila Mountains, along the Gila River and in the blood-soaked boomtown of Gila Bend. Typical of the situations we find our hero Sky Fargo in; he is trying to find out happened to a missing prospector. There are a variety of characters and some unusual and even startling murders occuring all around the area. It is up to Fargo to sort out this evil mess and bring the killer or killers to their just rewards. The greatest difference the reader will find with this story ,it that there is a lot of pondering and philosophizing about the life and reasons why one does the things that Fargo does. The story moves along at a rather slow pace;but an interesting read that is anything but boring. A bit of a change from fast-action,barroom shootouts and slugfests we are used to;but a great read nonetheless. Once again;as we have come to expect with "The Trailsman " series;the artwork on the cover is awesome.

A Great Read

Skye Fargo rides into the mining town of Gila Bend to take on the task of finding Clarice Hammond's father, who'd disappeared whilst searching for silver. But Gila Bend holds a mother lode of secrets and dangers - including a shadowy figure known as The Renegade, whose merciless mutilations and savage killings have the town terrified. And it isn't long before Fargo finds himself drawn into the deadly hunt for The Renegade too. Lots of suspects as to the identity of The Renegade, lots of questions about the disappearance of Desmond Hammond and attempts on Fargo's life by assassins unknown, all combine to pull the reader into the story as Fargo fights to find answers. The author's use of cliff-hanger chapter endings make this a difficult book to put down, there's plenty of great characters in this action filled book and some gruesome descriptions of The Renegade's handy-work which will please those who like their westerns violent and brutal. This book provides fans of The Trailsman series with everything they'd expect, the twists and turns, mystery elements, action and sensual women, all brought together with a gripping writing style. And it's not just Trailsman fans, it's anyone who enjoys westerns, who'll find this book a great read.
