attractive & fairly comprehensive pictures of WW II aircraft
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
This 11 year old book has a wide range of attractive photographs of flying WW II aircraft and a glossary with pertinent facts and 3 view drawings of each aircraft pictured. It is a great first book for anyone just starting to be interested in aircraft of the WWII era. The photgraphs are exceptional and spawned the large yearly calendar of the same name. The late Jeff Ethell "compiled" this book, although author credit is to Phil Makanna. After you look at the pictures, make sure you read the adjacent commentaries. The only negative is the omission of several aircraft, significantly the Martin B-26 medium Bomber. Especially odd as the CAF's Carolyn was flying in 1987 when this book was published AND they included in this book the ultra-rare P82 "Twin" Mustang, not exactly a prolific WWII aircraft. This Book is worth searching for.
