Our family used this book nightly with our advent wreath for Christmas 2009. The activity ideas are mostly useless, but the bible verses and prayers are nice. They were short enough to match the attention span of our 2 and half year old son and also worked for our 6 year old. I would recommend for families with preschoolers.

Wonderful book for young children

This is a great book for teaching your children about Advent. There is a page for every day of Advent which includes a scripture passage, prayer and family activity. The prayers and activities are simple and perfect for a family with young children. My husband and I have really enjoyed sharing this with our boys and I have also given it as a gift.

A perfect book to teach pre-schoolers and up about the true meaning of Christmas

I purchased this book last year for my then-four year old preschooler (my son was one and a half at the time). Each page has a short Bible verse, prayer, and activity or question (for example, draw a sheep or make an angel for your Christmas tree, or "who needs your help this Christmas?") The book has colorful, interesting illustrations. At the back of the book is an Advent calendar. It was very exciting for my daughter to read the book every day with me, and we looked forward to the time together. I wish I had a book like this for every day of the year. Now that my daughter is five, she is even more excited about the book and is able to do more of the activities. Her now-two and a half year old brother is also intrigued by the book. I would definitely recommend this book to parents who want to teach their children that "Jesus is the reason for the season." My four year old GOT IT last year!
