One of the things I really appreciate about the book is each of the 100 Fruits and Vegetables is presented with a breakdown for you to follow. Initially, you learn the value it offers to your body in the way of nutrients. At which point, the author tells you specifics step by step: Looks Like/Tastes Like; Select it; Store it right; Prep it Right; Tips (different means of preparation); Culinary destinations (how to serve it with other parts of the food pyramid - example what meats it compliments); To Your Health (safety warnings and USDA recommendations). Each section is pretty concise so you don't have to read 10 pages to get to the point. It contains photos so you really don't have to guess when you are in the store. I think this book offers more insight on how to expand your use of fruits and vegetables. I live in the subtropics and though I have tasted things from the Islands and Central and South America, I have had no idea how to prepare them or even exactly what they were. This book provides me with the knowledge of the food's versatility and preparation.
