Excellent resource

This is an invaluable resource for all genealogists, amateur as well as professional, even for those who speak German. Well worth the price.

A "MUST HAVE" for German Genealogy

This book contains examples of old German printing and script. It also has a very useful dictionary of archaic German and Latin terms you are likely to encounter in researching 18th and 19th century records written in German Script. Anyone who has tried to read an old church record written in Kurrent or Sütterlin script will appreciate this dictionary with examples. The inclusion of some Latin terms is very useful for research into Catholic Church records written in the old German scripts. I have used this book for over 15 years and it is still one of the books I keep next to my desk for quick look-ups when I come across a difficult passage or term. This book will NOT make the transcription and translation task Easy, but it will make it Easier.

A Must Have for Anyone Researching Old German Records

This book is a must have for anyone researching their German roots using old German Church records. For me, I find myself reaching for this book more than any other. Easy and comfortable to use. I highly recommend this one!

Excellent Resource

I do a lot of research in German records and I have found this book to be an invaluable aid. I refer to it again and again. German, Latin and other terms found in German records (especially church books) are translated into English. The book even has bit of information about the hard to read German script. It also covers numbers, months, common names and those weird symbols you sometimes find in German records. Highly recommended.
