This volume explains how people use the land, how they transform natural landscapes to human landscapes, and the environmental consequences of changing land use. Each of the six sections looks at how land area is used today and considers more environmentally sound ways to use areas like forests, work in agricultural areas, mine minerals, generate power (renewable and non-renewable), plan urban areas, and dispose of waste.
