A 12 yr old's review..."Meh"

This book is about a boy named George who has an evil grandmother. George is sick of how she acts like a normal grandmother in front of his parents, but then when they are alone she tells him horrible things that will happen to him. So, he devises a plan to get rid of this evil granny by concocting a marvelously, perfect medicine that will do the job! I'm 12 years old and my mom required that I read this book as apart of our home school, summer reading program. I'm not going to lie, I didn't love this book. Now, it did give me a few giggles, like when the grandmother encounters some crazy mishaps due to the "marvelous medicine," but honestly, the few giggles weren't enough to really keep me interested throughout the whole story. The plot seemed to be all over the place, and while it did keep me guessing, it was really boring and confusing. I wouldn't recommend this book for kids beyond 2nd or 3rd grade because, it won't keep them interested, but younger kids might find what George does to escape the wrath of his cruel grandmother to be funny and they might not pick up on how confusing the story line actually is. I gave this book 3 stars because it did make me laugh.

I read this chapter book to my second graders every year and they love it! It is such an exciting book, the kids are always anxious to predict what will happen next. It's hilariously funny too, especially if you use voices for Roald Dahl's inspired characters. This is a must read, you'll love it!

George`s Marvellous Medicine...

M.W.- Class Pick Do you have a grumpy old relative or a bully that you want to get rid of? Well, in the book George's Marvelous Medicine, George has the same problem. George is an 8 year old boy who has to spend the day with his "horrid, grouchy, grizzly, old grunion of a grandma." Luckily George gets an amazing plan to give his grandma a taste of her own medicine (literally.) Read this book and see what George puts in his recipe and what happens to his grandma. B.C. - Class Pick "You're growing too fast, George!" Grandma said. George does not like the cranky, mean, old grandma. How could George find a way to get Grandma to be just a little bit nicer? Grumpy Grandma had never gotten off of her chair in a very long time. Finally, George thought of it! He would make a Marvelous Medicine. Just wait until Grandma drinks this! Read George's Marvelous Medicine to find out what happens.

Great Medicine

This book was good. Some parts were funny and some parts got a bit serious. It was just good to read really. The medicine gets muddled up with other ingredients and it ends up being George's Marvellous Medicine 3................

Roald Dahl's Marvelous Book

This book is the best! I read it at the daycare center where I work to children ranging from 3 years old to 13 years. Everyone loved it. I am completing my degree in elementary education, and this book is highly recommended from professors as one for children to read. The creative plot of the story and imaginative vocabulary stimulate children's minds (adults as well). If you are a parent, buy this book and either read it to your child or let him/her read it to you. If you are a teacher, use this book in your classroom. This is one book that should not go unnoticed.
