A rare find in an age of dumbed down reading

Excellent reading material. It will not do to peruse this book quickly. It needs to be read thoughtfully and slowly. The style is more difficult than most pre-chewed material written today (pablum, I call it), but after some perserverence, it becomes easier to read. A number of observations: (and yes, I did read the whole book...) 1) Mr. Mackintosh ties in both Old and New Testament scriptures so by the time you are done, you feel like you've been taught broadly, not just the first five books. 2) As you can tell whether a person is Spirit-filled by association with him/her for a period of time, as you read this work (spending time with him, so to speak), you get the distinct impression that this gentleman was truely Spirit-filled. There is a gentleness in his instruction that can only come as the fruit of the Spirit's indwelling. 3) This book can serve not only as an excellent daily devotional read, but also as Bible study that uses the Pentateuch as a springboard for understanding the New Testament, and specifically, Christ's work for us, in us, and through us. 4) The teaching is from a conservative perspective. No liberalism here! I wish more Christians (present-day pastors included) could avail themselves of this kind of teaching! M. Brus, MD

a believers must for this world of pseudo-christian paganism

"so He led them through the depths as through the wilderness". psalm cvi.9 , C. H. M. wrote these notes for us to pass these wilderness safely through His guiding in this depth of night .

It clearly brings out Christ in the Pentateuch!

The first five book of the Bible were often the most negelected ones in my study. This great commentary has helped me see Christ throught these books and has helped me pull out many great applications. This book is a MUST for every serious believer's library!

Excellent tool for Bible students and teachers!

This book is very informative and insightful in regards to providing a clear understandable basis for interpretation of the events of the first five books of the Bible. This in turn helps for better understanding of the Old Testament, which in turn helps to provide a context for better understanding and application of the entire Bible in one's own life. Also extremely helpful as a tool for Bible teachers to see the glory of God and the purpose of Christ even from "the beginning."

A well-written classic; increases understanding of God

Genesis to Deuteronomy : Notes on the Pentateuch by Charles Henry MacKintosh is an enjoyable and wonderfully-written book. It was written a century ago but the concepts apply as much today as ever. Give yourself a spiritual uplift. Very readable concepts that help our understanding of God's message to us.
