Excellent Resource

This book is a must-have resource for anyone interested in working with Generator. Mike, Phillip, and Chris not only know their stuff, but they did a great job at sharing their knowledge in a way that even a novice can understand. They are able to share their real-world experience, and make using Generator just a little (maybe even a lot?) more palatable for the average Flash user.

Easy to follow explanations from the horse's mouth

I was going to avoid reviewing this book because I'm too close to the authors and my copy was free so I thought I would be too biased, but the book merits a stellar review...bias aside. Generator concepts are in bite size chunks and easy to follow, yet not so easy that they bore the reader. The book follows a natural progression in complexity and will be usefull to developers of all experience levels stepping up to the Generator plate. The level at which the author's stand in the developer community gives them the opportunity to bestow their knowledge in "we know it all" manner, but instead they maintain a humbleness that says "hey, we're just developers like you who've had a lot more time on our hands."Chock full of all the essentials, and the non-essentials, this book is a must have for the Generator developer (or the developer wanna-be) and looks to have a long shelf life.Chris, Phil, Mike-nice work!

The Resource!

Want to learn Generator? This is it, bar none! As a Generator and Flash trainer I always look for good material to add to class for future reading, this book will not only top the list but will be integrated into all future classes. Having used Generator since 1.0 I thought I knew many of the tricks but this book showed me a few that I have never seen before and will use immediately. If nothing else know that the authors are top of their game and that the material for this book matches their excellence.

Great book every dynamic content developer must have !!

I have read many chapters of this book and I can't wait to tell how great this book is ! Its worth every single penny...This book comes form the source i.e.Macromedia and it effectively tells you that Flash is just not making an animation now. Part 3- Deployment and Part 4-Advanced Topics of this book are just wonderful.Book also covers other third party tools that deliver dynamic flash content like Swift-Generator,Flash Turbine,Form2Flsh etc..I think if you want to refer just one or two Flash-books which are complete in every respect then I think you just need this book and "Flash 5 - Dynamic Content Studio" from Friends of ED.

Absolute essential reference for Generator/Flash developers

I find this book indispensable. Comprehensive, easy to follow and includes well thought out and useful examples and tutorials. This book should come with every copy of Generator sold. Anything you wanted to know but didn't know who to ask or how is covered in this concise and detailed book. It walks you through the gamut of the ins and outs, starting with the basics and background all the way through extending the functionality of generator through custom objects and SDK's. Excellent section that includes comparisons and review of products that compliment or try to emulate the functionality of Generator. Perfect for that due diligence a client will expect to have in any work proposal where Generator might be involved. All examples and tutorials include real world applications that make it easy to learn and follow. Every object and its use is covered in detail. This will be your reference any time you have a question or need to remind yourself how to do something with Generator and Flash. Informative chapter on getting Generator to run on unsupported platforms and configurations might be the key you need to get a client going. The included CD is worth its weight in gold in example source, documentation and demos. Forget trying to learn Generator from Macromedias sparse and under-documented manual included with its offering. Get this book and do yourself a favor and save months of hair pulling and sleepless nights. Can't wait to see what topic Mike, Phil and Chris take on next.
