Best Reference & Conversion Guide to move from Traditional Cooking Methods to Microwave

I've owned a copy of this book since I bought my first microwave back in the dark ages when microwave ovens were New Fangled Contraptions. I just bought 2 more for young adults in our family who beginning their own households. Whether you're a cooking novice or an experienced traditional cook looking for ways to use that counter-hogging microwave, this is the book for you. The New G. E. Microwave Cookbook teaches technique along with providing a huge variety of basic recipes. It gives charts for microwaving just about anything you'd care to cook short of elephant and whole giant squid. Yeah, that's an exageration, but it **is** a good basic microwave cookbook. Every page is liberally illustrated with color photographs so you can seeee how to apply the techniques the book teaches. The authors give 13 deatailed pages to microwaving by food types, defrosting and reheating charts. It devotes almost another 40 pages to "Microwave Adapting Guides" before the microwave recipes' sections. TAll told, there are over 200 pages of detailed, practical and useful information. The copyright was almost a quarter century ago, yet this book is still the most informative I've found for microwave cookery. For microwaves with high wattages, the charts and guidelines still stand as rules of thumb. Just ease the time back a notch and you're ready to go. With this book and a few microwave cooking containers you could really do without a conventional oven in your kitchen.
