Gender Gaps is VERY informative

I am in an education class and chose to do a report on the book, Gender Gaps. This book is full of eye opening information that should be interesting to everyone in the education feild. It has been very well reseached and contains alot of surprizing figures about the difference in education recieved by boys versus girls. Although the many facts and figures make this book somewhat of a difficult and dry read, the information and helpful suggestions more than make the book worth the reader's time.

good

This book was very informational and well researched. It had a lot of research and statistics to support it's claims. I enjoyed reading it because I recently debated some male and female gender issues with a friend that this book supports: such as stereotypes on career influence. I have not experience much of these gaps, maybe due to the time in which I attended school. Much of these gaps obviously had been pretty much filed. However I agree that they exist, and for some its okay. Some things need changing and some are fine left alone.

Great source of knowledge for future educators.

I am a college student majoring in education and had to read this for a class. This book held much information of which I was totally oblivious. It has served as a great source of new knowledge for me not only as a future educator, but also as the mother of two daughters. Having graduated from high school in 1987, I can remember clearly that there were many gender stereotypes used in textbooks, classroom discussions, and peer interactions. I do believe progress has been made and as educators we must make a conscious decision to make even more improvements towards obtaining gender equity in education. I found this book easy to follow, and being someone who isn't an avid reader, it has struck a desire within me to read additional education geared literature. Most of all, it has given me a sense of the importance of gender equity for all students and I will be a better educator because of having read this book.
