This book consists of a short novel and essays. The novel, titled "Lavo Standard," includes funny, unique, and Japan-specific elements and is heart-warming, in which a three generation family is involved with the life of "a slime." The essays, meanwhile, originally written from December 2008 until October 2010, offer a glimpse into what was happening in Japan back then, information a lot of which is still relevant to the situations today. As I am actually a Japanese man who started to learn English seriously in 2004 shortly before turning 30, this book also bears testimony to the improvement of my English proficiency.
