Every village in the South had some type of gatekeeper, who took care of the community and strengthened the families. The gatekeepers made the decisions in the village. They had visions that were attainable, which helped to develop structure in the village. Therefore, exchange of favors- sugar, vegetables, & transportation helped stabilize the village's resources for everyone.
