Actually, I wouldn't say yuck to this book at all. It is a very nice early readers book. The plot follows a little girl at summer camp who is a detective. When the counselor gives her bunk a mystery to solve, the game is on. Several of the girls are in competition to solve the riddle and win their prize. This book is written on such a level that first and second graders can read a chapter book with a real plot. The chapters are several pages long because of the typesetting. This will make them feel they are making real progress and get them exciting about reading. Why 4 stars?:This book is a prime example of the genre and serves its purpose well. However, the plot is a little weak.
