It is unfortunate that this book is out of print, because it truly is an excellent read. I picked the book up at the library just for some insight into de Klerk's decisions leading up to multiracial politics in the Republic of South Africa. It is written by his older brother Willem de Klerk, and considering they are related, I found it to be sufficiently objective. The main focus of the book is the actualy speech delivered by State President F.W. de Klerk on February 2nd, 1990 at the opening of parliament. The speech called for the openning up of South Africa, and the eventual end to the apartheid system that had governed the country for over 40 years. If you are a history buff - especially interested in South African history, as I am - you will really enjoy this book!
