If you have never opened a book by Aldren Watson, you are missing one of the treats of woodworking literature. The line drawings are unbelievably clear and helpful. The text is easy to read and if you follow the instructions, you'll actually produce what he's describing. I haven't found an erroneous measurement or missing item from a list of materials. His style leads you to believe you can actually do this stuff (and you don't need $10k worth of power tools).

Excellent book for the beginner or amateur woodworker. Well written, simple explanations of all the basics with hundreds of great, clear drawings and diagrams (the excellent illustrations in this book really makes it stand out over the vast majority of books of this type). Also included are instructions for eleven different interesting furniture projects.
