This book gives a real 'feel' for the towns..I've been to many of the towns and he captures the energy of the place....that 'energy' , to me, is the most important part. most books I've found only tell me how many cinemas, golf courses and hospitals there are...I want to know how people freindly the place is and I feel he hits it on the spot.I hope a new edition comes out including Canada and these US towns: Pahoa HI, Ithica NY, Northhampton MA, Brattleborro VT. Davis Square in Somerville MA, (Hopefully we can get it before corporate america strips all character out of the few cool places left on in this country)
Excellent sampling of funky life

The book really gives a thoughtful and varied view of these towns. Cramer picked all the right categories to research and hit his reviews right on the nose.
Where to travel & live in the US of A

Most books on the best towns in the USA rate things like education, or so-called quality of life. Funky Towns has it's own criteria... How much fun it is to live there. I reccomend this book to anyone alive enough to know they're not happy where they are, and willing to make a move... literally. (Literarily as well, I think i just made that word up.)
