Mitchell John is funded by his faith in himself, which is what makes this story uplifting

There are two main themes to the life of Mitchell John as recounted in this book. The first is that he is a determined man, he had a bad break in his middle teen years but managed to overcome it. He also has struggled hard to make a success in the music business, working against very difficult odds. A complete unknown in the music business, he paid his dues, playing in stores, small venues and spending hours refining his voice and delivery. He also suffered through personal tragedy when his son was severely injured in a car accident. The second main theme was very surprising in the current climate. John is effusive in his praise for the people who run Wal Mart. Many of his performances took place inside Wal Mart stores, where the managers allowed him to bring copies of his CD into the store and sell them while he played. John also met the CEO and when he had a difficulty, he actually called the CEO and asked him to intervene. Even more surprising, the CEO did, giving him a special arrangement so that John's CDs could be sold in Wal Mart stores. Without that special privilege, John probably would not have been successful in the music business. Given the bad press that Wal Mart has received lately, it was surprising to read of someone so staunchly in favor of the company. However, even John admits that this was when the company was smaller and much more flexible when doing business. This is a sound story of perseverance, dedication and belief in your ability to succeed at difficult tasks. From the title, it would appear that this book is strongly religious in nature. Although the author makes occasional religious references, the faith that he refers to is the faith that he has in himself. Without that, he would not have succeeded and it is that strong determination that makes this book worth reading.
