Bendroth recounts fear among fundamentalist patriarchs

Ms. Bendroth has done a superb job is recounting the fear of 19th century fundamentalist patriarchs for powerful women. Her citations of original documents supports her claim that Protestant Fundamentalism's militant denial of women's rights is at least 120 years old. This volume would be more easily digested if the reader had a good working knowledge of Protestant Fundamentalism's history since 1850.
