Before You Say You're A Christian, Read This...

I'm ashamed (proud) to admit that this is my first review. Selfish, because I've read a lot of books and could more than likely have helped many people with at least an honest review before this. That said and out of the way, my review: This book has the power to change your Christian life. It is up to you to decide if you will let it. What Dr. Tan talks about is spot on, theologically-speaking, and is painful to the leader-glutton in us all. I am on my second reading and it is (again) painful to read through it. It convicts. When I read the book, I slap my forehead. Doh! This is how Christianity is meant to be lived...by getting on your knees and serving. It isn't by thrusting yourself forward and drawing praise. That's God job, if at all! Not ours! I believe nearly every sin is rooted in pride. This book is an antidote. Take it. Read it slowly. Read it prayerfully. Read it again and again. I am thankful for Dr. Tan that he wrote this book. Christ did not come to be served, but to serve. Yet how often do we expect to be served? I do often. Dr. Tan humbly points us to Jesus. You will be glad you read this book.

Engaging and Stimulating

The approach of the author allowed for deep reflection. The book is well-written and demonstrated a good depth of scholarship in the content. The author carefully unpacked how servanthood is related to every area of life. Servanthood is not oppose to the concept of friendship. Every child of God should find this book useful. In addition, those who are searching for a relationship that will transform their lives will not be disappointed.
