Very good overview of Chicago in a compact, inexpensive way!

I used this Frommer's for a weekend trip to Chicago. While there isn't much focus on the suburbs of Chicagoland, for trips mostly in the center city, the Frommers guide is a winner. Further, it's cheap and easy to carry in a small bag. One major recommendation to Frommers (including this guide) is to list the major hotels on the maps. It's one thing not to review every hotel, but there is no excuse for missing a 1,000-room property in the map, as many of your readers are probably staying in the biggest hotels in downtown and River North.
This is the One to Buy

I read several travel books on Chicago from the library, and I felt that the regular Frommer's guide to Chicago was the best of them all. However, I bought "Frommer's Portable Chicago" because the smaller size makes it easy to take with you and it includes all the most important information - including the insightful reviews - from the regular version. This is an excellent book.
