Great info. on San Fran

I looked over this book before we went to San Francisco for the first time and highlighted some places of interest. We ended up liking them so much, we frequently referenced the book during our visit. We took the advice offered on the different attractions to go to and avoid and enjoyed our 5 day trip. Great book to have. When we go back, it will be useful then as well.

highly recommend by me

Frommer's Irreverent Guide to San Francisco (Irreverent Guides) I read the book nearly cover to cover a month before my husband and I went to SF in Sept. 2008 (2nd visit). The humor kept me interested in this guidebook, as guidebooks tend to be boring. It does snub it's nose at tourist traps, so if Fisherman's Wharf is your main interest, I do not recommend it for you, but I found the snub endearing in this book, and we still visited Fisherman's Wharf - it's really not as bad as the book makes it sound. I found the book to be useful around the city at various times during our trip. We really used the recommendations for eating on the cheap all over the city during the day, and were pleased with every place we ate. I also appreciated that is was small enough that it was not a pain to carry around in my small purse. I would purchase another Irreverent Guide for another city based on my experience.

Best secrets discovered!

The Camera Obscura at the Cliff House was a definite find! The book is filled with bits and pieces of information that is not listed in the typical guide book or on the Internet. I know because I did a lot of research before traveling to SF on vacation. I didn't go to all the places (ran out of time) but the ones I did were worth the journey.

Great book

We really utilized this book for our trip out to San Fran in March. It has a lot of great tips, and it was an entertaining read.
