Excellent Guide with Unique Travel Suggestions

I have enjoyed using Frommer guides for several trips now and was immensely pleased to find Ireland Day-by-Day. In high hopes of a future trip there, I read this guide with eagerness. The travel guides are incredible! There are travel suggestions by region, city, history, etc. The day by day guide is very helpful when you want to get the most out of your trip without sacrificing quality time or tourist favorites. I love that the guide isn't overly bulky and there are plenty of well defined maps. It is well worth the time and money to purchase this guide!

Only guide you'll need!

In addition to an easy fold out map tucked neatly in a waterproof pocket at the back of this ideal book, this guides beautiful glossy pages are filled with great places to dine, recline, shop, hike, etc. The highlights are informative and concise, making the vital information handy without adding too much bulk. You'll hardly notice the weight in your suitcase or backpack. A few of my favorite sections are the 'Galway City Restaurants A to Z', information on Desmond Castle's history and the former fishing village of Kinsale, as well as the inclusion of small detailed maps highlighted in the easy to read sections on various counties and cities. Frommer's has always been known for their excellent attention to detailed guides for travelers, but their 'Ireland day by day' truly stands out from all other travel guides.

Back to the Green Roots -- a Book to Make Us Homesick

Frommer's Ireland Day by Day (Frommer's Day by Day - Full Size) is an invitation to the lovely land of OUR ancestry. Just look around at the parades on St. Patrick's Day if you are in New Orleans, Metairie, or New York. Everybody is Irish sometimes. Throughout the United States we all wear our green March 17. This neat touring guide book makes me want to pack up and go. Since the book is sturdy, it is heavy enough to add appreciably to the weight of the luggage though. Inside is an abundance of lovely pictures of the Emerald Isle. I especially find the pictures interesting because I have so much Irish blood coursing through my veins that every native pictured in the book reminds me of my relatives. Ireland is calling me, and this beautiful travel book reminds me. How could one little book have so much in it? There is a great map in the back inside a snapped plastic pouch. There are word pictures along with the incredible photographs. How could one little book have so much beauty and hold such fascination? Is it because Frommer has a reputation to maintain as a great tour guide book manufacturer? Is it because the one little country described is one of the biggest in the world in heart, character, and passion? Or is it just the way I feel because I'm mostly Irish and I'm writing this review two days before St. Patty's Day? I don't know, but this book is a treasure! Go ahead and take your trip to Ireland. Take this book with you, and send us one of your photographs. You'll love Ireland, and this book will help you love our land of ancestral dreams.

An Excellent Travelpedia For The Emerald Isle

Over the years I've crisscrossed lands and oceans and most times made the journey with my trusted Frommer's Guide in hand. The Frommer's Ireland Day By Day is literally a book that I did not want to put down. This is one of the better guide books that I have read. Loaded into this 504 page travelpedia of the Emerald Isle are maps, photos, facts, history, eateries, transportation, lodging, directory and much, much more. As a photographer I was pleased with the photographs. The points of interest photographs are well produced and obviously not from the the usual files of stock photography. The FYI listings are on point tidbits and highlighted in various colors. The enclosed maps are colorful, navigable, and easy to read. Whether its visiting ancient ground or grabbing a pint at the local pub, the things to do and places to see listings go on and on. It documents well the Ireland that I want to see. Whether its upscale dining or the locals best kept secret, Frommer's Ireland Day by Day offers a cornucopia of detailed information including the house favorites. This writing offers a good listing of local lodging options and assures the reader that they are plentiful and priced for every budget. As I've found out through the years, each and every edition of Frommer's travel guide seems to get better. The Frommer's Ireland Day by Day is no exception. It is an outstanding compilation of all that is the magic of the Emerald Isle. I highly recommend it.

perfect guide for planning your adventure in Ireland

Most Frommer's guides are great, and this one is no exception. This is fun to look even if you're just interested in learning more about Ireland. It's filled with interesting details about Irish brews and history and conflict -- 5% of the country's milk production is used for Bailey's Irish cream -- and filled with colorful photographs of Ireland's highlights, festivals, charming towns. It's also valuable if you're actually planning a trip. There is a "best of" section, and there are itineraries for Ireland's major cities and counties based on how much time you have to spend. Whether you have one day or a full week in Dublin, this guide will help you prioritize your activities and get the most out of your visit. The guide is built for traveling -- small, sturdy, and equipped with extras. It is small enough that you could tuck it easily into a pocket or handbag; it has a sturdy laminated cover with an extended flap that can be used as a bookmark, and the pages are studry and shiny. There is a detailed road map and detailed subway route map folded into a plastic pocket inside the back cover. The book will survive being tossed around in a backpack for two weeks. The book is full of information about when it is best to travel, what to do with children in Ireland, and the like. It would be well worth if you're just thinking about a trip to Ireland -- to get ideas on when & where to go.
