An eye opener - got to read

If you have a child and you cannot for the life of you understand why they are unreasonably ungrateful and demanding then you need to read this book. We purchased this book with a hope to discover some ways and ideas to change some disturbing behaviors in our 12, now 13 year old daughter. In horror what we discovered was she was only behaving in ways she had been taught and we didn't even realize we were reinforcing that bad behavior. This book opened our eyes and helped us see what we thought were ways to love and care for our daughter were actually very harmful and helped to create an "ENTITLED" monster. And believe me, it was an ugly and cruel monster. This book helped show us ways to show our love, understanding and care in a different, but genuine manner, and help make her accountable at the same time - in a loving way. We still have a ways to go, but we see light and hope.

Must read!!!!!

I just received the audio version of this book and have listened to the first half. I think this explains so many of the bad behaviors we are seeing in children, mine included. (6yrold) I work at a childcare center and we are constantly trying to manage children that are out of control. The tragedy that is "entitlement" explains most of what we are seeing. I feel if every parent would use love and logic America could be great again. We could see less crime, less use of anti-depressants etc. I have seen many children that are probably destined for meds. that really just need "love and logic" The old way doesn't work anymore! Probably because you can't make your child go out and pick a switch from the willow tree. Empty threats are amusing rather than having the desired effect. End the frustration!!!! Love and Logic works almost instantly. I was ready to take my daughter to a Pshychiatrist, but just changing MY ways has done the trick. I can totally see how my poor, but well meaning. parenting has led to all the behaviors that we, and my child's teachers, are seeing. NO MEDS for my child, just LOVE and LOGIC!!!!! I will agree that the last half is just rehashing love and logic, but I think this book is the key to all of it. This could be the only book you need! If you already own love and logic, the first half of the book is worth the "recap". It doesn't hurt to review.

From Innocence to Entitlement

A must read for all parents leaving the hospital with their newborn. Or at least given to all parents registering their child for kindergarten. A lightbulb moment every page I read. This philosophy and perspective has nothing to do with money, income or things.

A worthy read

This book was purchased with hopes that we would gain insite to our daughters difficulties. Only to be enlightened to a whole other world of possibilities, HELP Boy did we get a crash course in Entitlement and great sage advise as well. I highly recommend this book for anyone dealing with the gimmies of any age.

Excellent books!

All the books I've read by these guys are really good. They propose teaching kids about consequences--what they're going to experience in the REAL world. It's nothing to do with manipulation. Don't worry about "EmmerysMomma." She's young--she'll learn.
