Would have had a better career if I had read this 20 years ago . . .

This is a crucial lesson in the difference between doing your work or managing others doing similar work, and being an executive responsible for leading diverse professionals to accomplish inter-related goals. The lesson is buried in a somewhat hokey story about a start up company where two brilliant, but narrow, SMEs suddenly have to take over running the whole company -- TOGETHER. If you can swallow the soap-opera quality story, the lesson about crucial differences between knowing a subject or profession versus being an executive responsible for leading others to accomplish inter-related goals is well thought out and presented. I have an MBA from Wharton, and despite that, this book gave me more insight into what I should have been doing in the past 30 years of my career than the MBA did. I would give it 5 stars if the story weren't so hokey.
