Review of the book not the author.

If one ignores the underlying causes and background that precipitated the topic of the book, the reader will discover it is a decent read. It is well written and readers can obtain lessons learned. The message and suggestions in the book are relevant especially for the small independent Christian Church community. Christians can be very difficult persons and especially critical of their fellow believers. Friendly Fire is not apologetics and not an ongoing dialog or arguments to the arguments made against the author in other books. Unfortunately, most of the reviews posted are not about the book, but personal opinions of the author or the reviewers grumbles about perceived injuries because they placed to more emphasis on one evangelist's life and teachings and less on Jesus.

Either love him or hate him...wait, Christians have to love...

I find it very sad that many of my Christian brothers and sisters sound like they've "been baptized in vinegar and lost their best friends" when they talk about Mike Warnke. Was their sin in his life? As a Biblicist and a Lutheran, I must answer: DUH! Yours, too (It's called depravity and while it may be more obvious in some than others, we ALL have it). In any case, as one in ministry who has seen many, many people burned over the coals by other Christians, I think it sad that many who have read this book pan it because "His sin is too great." Have you read the "Confessions" of Augustine? Do you know about the sins of Luther, Calvin, and Spurgeon? Have you ever denied your Lord as did Peter? We are all simply beggars telling other beggars where we found bread---THE Bread of Life, Jesus Christ. Now, I found that this book had some practical suggestions for those who had been "chewed up and spit out" by the church. And for that, I recommend it. Many of you out there have been beaten up by the church and left for dead by those who claimed to be your family. For you I would greatly recommend visiting www.keylife.org and also getting a copy of "The Gospel for those broken by the church" by Rod Rosenbladt at www.newreformationpress.com. Remember, "Be a sinner, and let your sins be strong (sin boldly), but let your trust in Christ be stronger, and rejoice in Christ who is the victor over sin, death, and the world." -- Luther

My Response

Many of you do not have a clear picture of the acutal events that took place with the events around Mike Warnkes life. Many are referring to the book Selling Satan that was supposedly to "debunk" Mike and what he was doing. If you have read this book you will notice that one of the "reliable sources" was Anton LaVey, of which the authors of the book printed his inteview. For those of you who may not know who LaVey is or was, he considered himself the Black Pope as was the founder of the First Church of Satan in California. How can a man who is an avowed Satanist, who teaches that Christians are fools and will believe ANYTHING that is told to them, how can someone like that even be considered a reliable source? People bought Anton's story hook line and sinker and what is even more incredible, while all these good people were getting their panties in a wrinkle, Anton was laughting all the way to the bank and chashing the check. So, before you judge Mike you must first look at the "reliable source" and deal with the father of lies first.

Friendly Fire

I am afraid that so many of us these days are victims in our own churchs. The things Mike Warnke says in this book are very much right on target. I recommend this book to aanyone

What a God sent Man!

This book is the best at describing the Love of God. And yet as Mike is still being bashed by his own Christian family he still is striving to serve God. This book tells the truths about how the Christian Army is the only army in the world that will shoot its own and leave them there to die. Where is our Love for our neighbor and the forgivness of Christ. This book is A # one and will help alot of Christian out. Mike has been there and he now tells the story of how Christ pulled him through. What a man of God this is. Our prayers are with you "MIKE".
