I just finished Sharon Mignerey's latest book, FRIEND, LOVER, PROTECTOR. What a fast paced, sensuous book. The bath scene is one of the steamiest and incredibly beautiful scenes I've read in a long time. This is a great follow up to Sharon's last book, TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT.FRIEND, LOVER, PROTECTOR, is the story of Dahlia Jensen and Jack Trahern. Dahlia is a scientist studing lightning, Jack is her bodyguard, sent by Dahlia's sister, Rosie's boyfriend, Ian (read TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT). Dahlia doesn't think she needs a bodyguard. Jack doesn't care what she thinks she needs, she didn't hire him, his best friend did and he will do the job he was hired to do. The fact that Dahlia is stacked and Jack is more attracted to her than any woman he can remember has nothing to do with it. My description of the book is very sparse because I don't want to give any of the wonderfulness of it away. If you love an intriguing story, with romance, sexiness, danger and lightning thrown in, then this book is for you. And if you don't like those things this book is still for you. It is a fun, delicious, romp that robbed me of my sleep. I kept trying to put it down and go to sleep but couldn't until I had finished it on one sitting. That is a definite 5 star read for me and this book is on my keeper shelf.
Fabulous Read

I love books with continuing characters. If you read Too Close for Comfort, you've probably wondered what happened with Jack and Dahlia. Dahlia is totally believable--no too-dumb-to-live stuff from this heroine when bad guys break into her house in the middle of the night, but she's also brave when she has to be. And Jack is a totally wonderful hero, strong and tender a man's man without being macho. The suspense with the bad guys is totally believable, and when Jack is shot, oh my gosh, I couldn't stand it. Since this is a romance, I knew it would be okay, but I was sure worried for a while. If you haven't read this author before, you've gotta start with this book. It's going on my keeper shelf.

This book has a little of everything. Romance, mayhem, and non-stop action. This talented author makes you feel as if you are there chasing Thunderstorms with Dahlia and Jack, right down to the rumble in the Colorado skies. If you like romance with a bit of suspense. This book is fun romp.

Dr. Dahlia Jensen, as associate professor at Colorado Mountain University, is a storm chaser. She plans for her research and theories about lightening to earn her a grant and a promotion. An ex-husband and broken engagement have persuaded Dahlia to avoid romantic encounters. Dahlia has subsequently maintained tight control over life; that is, right up until Army Ranger Jack Trahern climbs into her van claiming to be her bodyguard. Suddenly her life careens out of control and she believes Jack is the most dangerous man she has ever met.Jack agrees to keep Dahlia safe as a favor to an old friend. Impressed by Dahlia's courage and determination, Jack intends to prevent her from becoming a mob hit during her sister's testimony. With a month of accrued leave, Jack devotes himself to insuring Dahlia's safety. Unfortunately, he would also rather be anywhere but storm chasing. And despite his growing attraction for Dahlia, Jack does not do permanence or babies. Nor does he have sex with a woman he cannot walk away from. Now Jack is left wondering how in the world he will keep safe from Dahlia.Award winning author Sharon Mignerey demonstrates her outstanding talent in this sequel to TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. FRIEND, LOVER, PROTECTOR builds tension from the first page and never relents. Sexual tension underlies physical danger as these fascinating characters, an unusual background, and a tightly knit plot combine in thrilling excitement. Further, Dahlia faces an interesting challenge in her relationship with men. Her physical attributes bring constant attention to her body, making her wish for "just one guy who sees beyond the obvious." Jack sees beyond the obvious very quickly, but has his own challenges to overcome. In addition, Mignerey deftly captures the dangerous atmosphere of academia when professional jealousies meet with personal vendettas. Dahlia's nemesis and former mentor is a character readers will love to hate. An outstanding read, FRIEND, LOVER, PROTECTOR earns the WordWeaving Award for Excellence.
A Fast-Paced, Emotion-Packed Read

This book begins suspenseful and holds that suspense for the entire book. The characters are believable. I felt their heartache and joy. (I'd really like to know where I find a Jack Trahern.) The plot is tightly woven. The tension between Jack and Dahlia is heavy. Sometimes I had to stop reading, just to take a breath and calm down. If you like feeling STRONG emotions when you read, this is the book for you. I can hardly wait for the other sister's story. When will that come out?
